RADICAL TYPE DESIGN CONFERENCE
Objective
The objective of the Radical Type Design Conference project was to translate the ideas of Extra Bold: A Feminist, Inclusive, Anti-Racist, Non-binary Field Guide for Graphic Designers into a cohesive visual identity system for a type design conference. It explores how typography can function not just as communication but as a structural and political tool, amplifying marginalized voices while challenging design neutrality.
Approach
I developed a bold typographic system rooted in scale, hierarchy, repetition, and contrast. Fluorescent green and hot pink were used to disrupt conventional academic aesthetics, while modular layouts and oversized type reinforced visibility and urgency. The system extends across posters, programs, merchandise, and environmental graphics, demonstrating how type can act as both architecture and activism.
